INTRINSICALLY SAFE BARRIER RELAYS
Intrinsically Safe Barrier Relays protect hazardous location circuits and control loads without additional relays or contactors. IS circuits operate at low energy levels that cannot ignite potentially explosives atmospheres. In the event of a fault condition, these Intrinsically Safe Barrier Relays prevent excess voltage and current from reaching the hazardous area.
Circuit Protection and Control in One Compact Device
Macromatic’s Intrinsically Safe Barrier Relays are approved for use in these Hazardous Locations: Class I, Div 1 (Zones 0 and 1 Canada), Groups A, B, C, D; Class II, Div 1 (Zones 20 and 21 Canada), Group E, F, G; Class III, Div 1. Choose from three enclosure styles:
4-CHANNEL 60 MM WIDE
ISD Series Barrier Relays control up to four loads. Models are available to apply time delay and logic selection independently to each channel. These relays mount on 35 mm DIN-rail or can be panel mounted.
1-CHANNEL 17.5MM WIDE
ISE Series Barrier Relays control a single load with a single input from the hazardous area These relays mount on 35 mm DIN-rail or can be panel mounted. Choose standard or inverse logic.
1-CHANNEL PLUG-IN
ISP Series Barrier Relays, with an 8-pin configuration with included socket, mount on 35 mm DIN-rail or can be panel mounted. Note that the ISP Series is not approved for use in hazardous zones in Canada.

A Macromatic ARP Series Duplex Controller combines the function of an alternating relay, control relay and auxiliary contacts in one unit to provide Sequence On – Simultaneous OFF (S.O.S.O.) functionality. For 120V applications see ARP120A8R and for 24V applications use ARP024A8R.
Macromatic relays specify the power consumed by the device as “burden” in units of VA. Look for the burden specification in the catalog page for the specific device you have. The unit of VA(volt-amps) is essentially the same as Watts(power), current draw can be calculated in Amps by taking the VA specification and dividing by the voltage control voltage you are using to power the device.
