PERCENTAGE TIMERS
PTA Series Percentage Timers provide an economical method to deliver precise and reliable repeat cycle timing for critical applications such as agricultural irrigation. A potentiometer setting determines the ON time as a percentage of the total ON/OFF cycle time. Seven fixed total cycle times are available in seconds, minutes, and hours.
Accurate Timing for Critical Applications
Setting of the time delay is easy with a rotary potentiometer. The microprocessor-based control provides reliable and accurate timing for irrigation, power systems, automation, and other industrial processes requiring economical repeat cycle timing.

PANEL CUTOUT
PTA Series Percentage Timers mount with an industry-standard panel cutout and pattern. Models are available with or without memory of timing sequence.

Frequently Asked Questions About Percentage Timers
A Percentage Timer is a time delay relay commonly used in applications such as irrigation, chemical feeding, electric heating & cooling, motors and lubrication systems. Early Percentage Timer designs were mechanical and used motors and gears to perform the timing function. The mechanical nature of these early designs also means that they are susceptible to variations in voltage and frequency. Macromatic PTA series Percentage Timers are electronic and microprocessor based. This design approach offers highly reliable, repeatable and accurate timing cycles. Changing voltage and frequency does not impact the time range or timing cycle.
Macromatic relays specify the power consumed by the device as “burden” in units of VA. Look for the burden specification in the catalog page for the specific device you have. The unit of VA(volt-amps) is essentially the same as Watts(power), current draw can be calculated in Amps by taking the VA specification and dividing by the voltage control voltage you are using to power the device.
Macromatic maintains an extensive cross reference database. Follow the link here.
Macromatic PTA series Percentage Timers are electronic and microprocessor based. This design approach offers highly reliable, repeatable and accurate timing cycles. The PTA series is available with or without memory. For applications that require memory, the standard PTA series retains timing cycle status when power is lost. When power is restored the timer continues timing without resetting the timing cycle. For applications that do not require memory, Macromatic offers the product without memory as well. The non-memory version resets the timing cycle to zero when power is removed. When power is reapplied, the timing cycle always starts at the beginning.
